A daily noon-time food program that serves a hot, nutritious meal to anyone in need with a "no questions asked" policy.
Kate’s Kitchen is a community kitchen that was begun in 1980. Since that day, one noon-time meal daily has been served to anyone in need with a “no-questions asked” policy. In August of 1999 the building that housed this program on Elm Street was burned down by a massive fire. The Kitchen is opened 365 days/yr. and provides approx. 150 meals per day. Since its inception, Kate’s Kitchen has provided to its neighbors over one million meals.
The Kitchen depends heavily on volunteers to assure the smooth running of the kitchen since there are only two paid staff persons. We are grateful to the many church groups, farmers, supermarkets, restaurants, civic organizations, and the general public for continually volunteering or donating food to this program.
The kitchen, and a majority of the appliances, is dedicated to the Philip Morris Company who generously donated monies to totally renovate the entire kitchen after the fire in 1999.
This program was named after Sr. Katherine Horan, SP.
Providence Ministries programs are funded in part by the Annual Catholic Appeal. , Office of Community Development, HUD, FEMA, WestMAss Eldercare and our generous community.
